So I made quite a lot during my school years, but I didn’t like everything, nonetheless, this is what I did like! This all is pretty much in chronological order.
This work was made at the HKU University of the Arts in Utrecht.
This contains screen mockups shape explorations, traditional artwork, 3D explorations, small animations and VFX explorations.
|2016-2017| Fanart Collection
A fake screenshot, re-skin of a match four game, themed after the Russian Fairytale “The Frog Princess”. Why is it called Frog Queen, you ask? Because ‘Frog Princess’ didn’t fit, unfortunately. The style was inspired by Ivan Bilibin’s work.
An exercise where we’d extract shapes/colours based on a given prompt and make cool shapes and environments with them, mine was Orchids. It was a fun exercise!
A project which I designed, pitched and became the art lead/producer of. Unfortunately I’ve lost the build of the game but it was one of the best projects I’ve worked on at school.
The concept was for a point capture game which takes place in which magical entities/Gods are assigned to humans to teach them magic.
An illustrative sketch showing a student and the featured demonic God in our game, Avaelitm, who controls lava and time. He represents the creative and destructive qualities of lava as well as the passing of time (his eye is a clock as well).
Design of the students, in the game you play with two students representing the creative qualities of lava vs. two students representing the destructive qualities of lava. The more temples your team captures, the more your cape lights up and the more the God is influenced by your ideological prayers.
A rough map for the game, the middle platform would start out flat and uncoloured but rise with each captured temple, turning into a massive illuminated statue of the students’ God.
The players would have to do jumping puzzles on white floating platforms to get to the temples, once they captured a temple it would turn into their colour.

I did not know about lighting in 3D software being necessary for in-program video rendering, so my apologies for the Long Night levels of darkness.
The temple, if captured by a teal (destructive) player. The floating rocks would tell the deity’s story to a patient player standing on the inside of the temple.
Unfortunately I no longer have the files with the illustrations that tell the story of the God.
A big sphere around the map that would sort of be a skybox, eventually scrapped.
The Base model for the Lava/Time Demon Avaelitm, since I’m quite incompetent with 3D the UVs were done by someone else so I can’t share the final version because it’s not my work.
Fake screenshot concept for an applied game for elderly people with motor issue where a player would have to move their arm and touch orbs to have them grow into flowers.
Same Concept but with lighting up stars instead of growing flowers. Neither were chosen.
I don’t actually remember a lot about this project as I worked on it with other students in a very turbulent time, but I still think some of the designs are nice.

Character Concept for a Redcap Character(from Celtic Mythology) made with watercolours, messed up the wisps next to him and some other stuff. I could have fixed it digitally but this assignment was meant to be made traditionally.

Character Concepts used in a Pitch for a Cute Horror Game. Unfortunately this pitch didn’t get enough votes to get worked on.
A traditionally made Character Concept for a Jorougumo Character, outfit was based on an Oiran, too much details didn’t fit the main style which the art lead was going for, so I kept the details minimal and based the colours on actual Jorougumo Spiders.

For self-study I decided to participate in Inktober, or Goretober to get into a spooky mood. My first work was Kirumi Tojo from Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony.
An Original Character I made during Inktober, her head is filled with blind fish. Still love this design.
It’s the Redcap Original Character which I had made with watercolours earlier, except this time with a cape and a flower lantern.
As a bonus, a spooky digital avatar.
